Robert Shenfield, our son, was diagnosed as Developmentally Delayed, possibly from complications during pregnancy, about 38 years ago. He was extensively tested at age 8, and we were told that he would not be able to live independently, definitely not be able to drive a car, and if he could work, possibly a job taking care of animals because he would not be able to interact with people! Given the wonderful and caring environment of “OUR THRIFT STORE” (which he has been fortunate enough to be a part of for the last 8 years), he has blossomed and now is truly Independent; he lives in his own apartment; is able to drive a car, and takes care of all his needs. It has been a Blessing for him, and his family. We very much appreciate what Sandy and Dave Krikac have done for Robert and all the others that they help support through the GEAR Foundation.
